(American, b. 1938)
Thomas Frost became interested in art at a very young
age, being the great, great, grandson of Thomas Hill. He was taken under
the wing of his sixth grade teacher, Gerald Smith, even to the point of
taking him to the Adult School art class he taught. Gerald Smith evidently
thought that Frost at the age of 11 showed that he had potential. From
there on in Frost started accumulating award after award.
Frost's main interest is in capturing the American
West, the same west his grandfather captured so admirably. Living in the
Sierras Nevada Mountains encourages and inspires this artist to paint
beautiful landscapes and mountain scenes. Some of the artist's who have
inspired Frost to take up the endeavor of painting are Thomas Hill, Keith,
Bierstadt and Frederic Church.
